Ultra-Pellet Trap
Stop plastic pellets and other debris from entering stormwater drains and polluting our waterways
Storm drains connect to waterways everywhere, and they are the last and most critical line of defense against pellet loss. The Ultra-Pellet Trap is a catch basin insert engineered to filter microplastics (“nurdles”) and other stormwater waste before they become a problem in the water system. It also filters out other contaminants, including oil, eroded soil, debris, and fuel from vehicles.
Installation is simple: raise the grate, place the Ultra-Pellet Trap over the opening, and carefully lower the grate back into place.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much water can the Ultra-Pellet Trap handle?
The Ultra-Pellet Trap has a flow rate of 90 gpm/ft².
How long will an Ultra-Pellet Trap last?
It is hard to give a definitive answer because several factors determine its life expectancy, including the amount of rainfall and the amount and type of pollutants it is exposed to. We recommend inspecting the unit after each significant rain event.
Can the Ultra-Pellet Trap be reused?
Yes, in most cases. If it fills with sand, silt, and sediment, remove it from the drain, empty it, and put it back. If it becomes saturated with oil, gas, or other hydrocarbons, we recommend replacing it instead of reusing it.
Is the Ultra-Pellet Trap difficult to install?
Usually the hardest part is handling the catch basin grate. A second set of hands is recommended.
What are the straps sewn into the top of the Ultra-Pellet Trap used for?
They are used to remove a full trap from the catch basin. BEFORE lifting the grate, fish the four straps up through the grating. Then insert a piece of rebar, a steel rod, or a shovel or broom handle through each set of straps to lift the trap out.
Do I have to trim the skirt after installation?
No. You can trim any excess material after the grate is in place with heavy-duty scissors or a utility knife, but it isn’t required. Leaving it on lets it act as a pre-filter that removes some pollutants before they get below the grate, and it makes the trap much easier to reinstall.
